Rhys Bevan-John, Somatic Coach
Rhys spent 25 years in the theatre as an actor, writer, director, and producer.
Rhys won the reader's choice award of “The Coast”, a local paper, following his performance of the title role in Hamlet. He has toured around the world for a year performing a puppet show with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia. Over the years he created a number of theatre shows for children, and performed in many more – having toured elementary school gymnasiums throughout Nova Scotia many times with the Neptune Young Company. Most recently he toured Nova Scotia libraries with his one man show for kids: “Adventures in Moonland”.
Rhys has always been deeply fascinated by the human experience from a psychological, anthropological, theological, comical, and metaphysical perspective. He has been delighted to find that all of these things can be wrapped up together in the practice of somatics - somatics is like his own personal burrito of significant life things.
He spent 4 years focusing on studying somatic coaching methodologies taught at the Strozzi Institute in Northern California, eventually taking their somatic coaching certification program, and will soon be certified by the International Coaching Federation. He has worked with companies large and small using his unique collection of skills to help them understand and redefine their culture.
Rhys works with clients to help them identify patterns in their bodies and their behaviour that is preventing them from realizing their potential, and then uses mindfulness based exercises to help them develop more capacity and possibility in their lives. This process creates deep, fundamental, lasting, change in people's personal destiny.
